The Spot teleports Into DEATH BATTLE!
Note: This blog is specifically about the 616 version and not outside material such as the cartoons.
Background
- Full name: Johnathon Ohnn
- Height: 5'10/1.78m
- Weight: 170 Ibs/77.11kg
- Is divorced
- PH.D in engineering
John got his doctorate at the M.I.T., where he was friends & roommates with Quentin Beck (also known as Mysterio). He was a scientist working for the mob boss Kingpin, Dr.Ohn was personally assigned to reproduce the radiation levels of Cloak in order to mimic his powers. In a matter of hours he succeeded, making a singular black portal which he stepped into, this in turn, caused a blackout all across the city. The shock of going into the portal caused John to pass out, when woken up again he found himself in a dimension of infinite portals, after searching he found the original portal he came from and escaped. When John left his body was covered head to toe in spots (he would later learn to turn this off and on at will), realizing those spots were spatial portals he decided to test it against Spider-Man.
So he went to find and fight Spider-Man, when he found Spidey he announced his name as The Spot. Unsurprisingly, Spider-Man laughed at him, mocking his name. After a quick scuffle, Spot was actually winning against Spidey; before he left he told both Spider-Man & Black Cat to stop harassing the Kingpin or he'll be forced to destroy them. Later when Spider-Man & Black Cat were on their way to attack the Kingpin Spot & Spidey had another run-in, this time however Spidey won by having Spot make so many portals there would be only white space left on his body. Later he formed a team with Gibbon, Grizzly, and Kangaroo called; Spider-Man revenge squad (or Legion Of Losers), this team unfortunately was short-lived as they soon disbanded due to arguments & fights breaking out within the team. Spot once helped Tombstone escape from a high security prison which in return for helping him, Tombstone snapped his neck. Fortunately Spot was later shown to have survived.
Spot would later accomplish some amazing things such as being considered part of the Infinity watch, being killed by Elektra, or being killed by Wolverine, or being dismembered by Carnage....okay so maybe not so great, but he's going places.
Abilities
Spotted Dimension
This dimension is the main way Spot uses his powers. This dimension is half light and dark; while inside you're almost weightless. The spots let John defy all laws of physics by being able to disconnect parts of his body in mid-air or on any surface; gravity having no effect on it whatsoever. John first has to get through the Intermediary realm of the Dark Dimension to get to his destination. John can control the sizes of the portals to make him portable or to make them as huge as possible, usually he uses the portals to have his opponent hurt themselves, or spam portals that he can go into and overwhelm his adversary. Later on in his career he was able to make extra limbs for himself and disconnect body parts like the head after experiments from the Coyote.
Strangely enough the Spotted Dimension seems to have given John some form of Immortality as despite being dismembered by Carnage, he claimed he can't be killed because of the Spotted Dimension. Implying he'll heal after some time which does help answer how he survived getting his neck snapped by Tombstone.
Intelligence
Compared to most of Spidey's rogues', The Spot is one of the smartest. He's one of Kingpin's top tier scientist and was able to (kinda) mimic Cloak's DarkForce powers in a short time. Unfortunately, he doesn't show his intelligence often as he's portrayed as a joke most of the time.
Overall
•Has a kid named Wyatt
•Has fought Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, Captain Marvel and other powerful Marvel Heroes
•Formed the Legion Of Losers
•Very good at robbing banks
Strength'
Speed
Durability
•Takes a kick from a full power Spider-Man, who Mr.Negative stated was stronger than before.
•Takes a kick & punch from Spider-Man and is shown completely fine pages later
Weaknesses
Spot cannot make infinite portals for himself, because he mostly uses the portals on his body. If he spams too many portals his body will be fully white and make him vulnerable, this is how Spider-Man beat him in their second encounter.
Possible opponents;
Polka-Dot Man.
Marvel & DC characters who use polkadots to attack people with, very basic matchup but it works fine. This could be a good joke episode, I imagine the analysis would be akin to Dan Hibiki vs Hercule Satan. Not much to say about this matchup it's just good. This is the only matchup Spot has and y'know I'll gladly take it, I don't know who wins but betting both, rooting Spot because he's the🐐.
